Dr. Touch Tanks to make State “House-Call” with Governor BaldacciFor Immediate Release (3/9/2007) A great way to continue to improve science education is by having a touch tank in the classroom so students can see first hand how the ocean eco system interacts daily. These observations made by the students at an early age will further enhance the value of a trip to the Gulf of Maine Marine Education Association during their sixth grade year. Regina Morton is a sixth grade science teacher at Lincoln Middle School of Portland, Maine who has a touch tank in her classroom. When asked how the touch tank benefits her classroom she replied, “The Touch Tank brings learning to life as students utilize many hands-on opportunities to learn about the creatures that inhabit the ocean. The tank also provides the students with the opportunity to teach younger students from neighboring elementary schools about the knowledge they have acquired" For more information, please contact: Charlton Shackleton - Public Relations Officer Office Phone: (207) 775 -5627 ### |
