Educational Resources

The Touch Tank has been “one of the best educational tools” I have ever had. “If people saw what this tank did and how it inspires the students, there would be no question about funding it,” she says. “The students might forget me in ten years, but not the tank.”

Ms. Jean Giberson
Fourth Grade Teacher
West Harpswell Elementary

“The Touch Tank brings learning to life as students utilize many hands-on opportunities to learn about the creatures that inhabit the ocean. The tank also provides the students with the opportunity to teach younger students from neighboring elementary schools about the knowledge they have acquired."

Regina Morton
6th Grade Science Teacher
Lincoln Middle School

"David Vaughan teaches high-school science at the Waynflete School in Portland, Maine. Although he's had an aquarium in his class for the 20 years he's taught science, he just bought a Touch Tank this year. Already, he says it's made a world of difference for his students. "The Touch Tank is lower and wider so students can lean over it and take organisms out," he says. His students check out the Touch Tank every single day, which wasn't the case with the former aquarium. "Right now we have two male lobsters jousting with each other," says Vaughan. "We read a book about lobster behavior and witnessed it firsthand."

Touch Tanks

The Touch Tank is constructed from acrylic and is designed to provide years of classroom enjoyment. Child-friendly, mobile, and easy to maintain design supports sea life as students learn the about the eco-system.

Touch Tanks are effective hands-on learning tools. By recreating the marine environment, students experience the beauty and magic of the earth's eco-systems and discover the complexity of the symbiotic relationships that ensure the earth's environmental balance. Students are encouraged to explore by handling sea creatures and experiencing the wonders of nature

Touch Tanks provide healthy living conditions for the sea life that naturally dwell in the shallow waters of lakes, rivers, and coastal waters. Students are able to observe how the animals would interact in their native habitat. Touch Tanks employ a sophisticated water purification system. The user-friendly filtration system allows participants to take an active role in the maintenance and upkeep of the tank, becoming more involved with the recreated eco-system. Dr. Touch Tanks™ Program

The Dr. Touch Tanks program provides many ways to engage students to learn about marine science through hands on learning. Students become excited about science when Dr. Touch Tanks delivers sea life for study and enjoy the opportunity to ask questions about marine life at his website Ask Dr. Touch Tanks.
